MSc Student

Mariana Fernandes is currently in the second year of the MSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. In 2021, she concluded a BSc in Biology from the same institution.

Mariana’s MSc thesis project “Designing Optimal 3D Enzyme Computational Models for Efficient Plastic Degradation” aims to optimize enzymes responsible for plastic degradation using computational methodologies, including 3D modeling and data mining. She is working under the supervision of Dr. João Carneiro (CIIMAR), Dr. Sérgio Sousa (BioSIM), and Dr. Diogo Pratas (Univ Aveiro).
