Rita P. Magalhães, B.Sc. in Biochemistry, is currently developing her MSc Research Project in Chemistry at BioSIM, focusing on the development of new antimicrobial agents against biofilm formation, using virtual screening, molecular docking, and QSARs. She is being co-supervised by prof. André Melo (FCUP/LAQV) and by prof. Sérgio Sousa (FMUP/BioSIM).Rita P. Magalhães received her BSc in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. Her research project was developed at Stockholms Universitet on Spectroscopic Studies of Parallel Beta-Sheet Amyloid Proteins. She recently completed her MSc in Chemistry, also at the University of Porto. Her dissertation was developed at BioSIM under the supervision of Dr. André Melo(FCUP/LAQV) and Dr. Sérgio Sousa (FMUP/BioSIM) and focused on the “Computational Identification of New Drugs Against Biofilm Formation and Inhibition”, using Molecular Docking and Virtual Screening Techniques.
She is currently a Researcher Fellow at BioSIM, and her work focuses on solving enzymatic catalytic mechanisms through QM/MM and Molecular Dynamics.
