Juliana F. Rocha is a PhD student of the Biomedicine PhD program (Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto), following an M.Sc. in Medicinal Chemistry (UMinho) and a B.Sc. in Biochemistry (UMinho).
Her PhD project is being developed at BioSIM and involves the use of QM/MM methods to study the catalytic mechanism of PLP-dependent enzymes with potential use as biocatalysts on the pharmaceutical industry. She aims to uncover the secrets of catalytic mechanisms of enzymes and improve their catalytic power. Moreover, she is also involved in the study of organic chemistry reactions.
