PhD Student
André F. Pina was a PhD student of the Biomedicine PhD program (Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto), following an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Biochemistry (FCUP/ICBAS).
His PhD project was developed at BioSIM under the supervision of Nuno Cerqueira and Sérgio F. Sousa and involved the use of molecular dynamics simulations and QM/MM methods to study the catalytic mechanism of the PLP synthase macrocomplex, a potential target in the treatment of two of the most deadly infectious diseases: tuberculosis and malaria.
