Two PhD students from BioSIM had the opportunity to present their research at the III Science Congress of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, held from October 29 to 31, 2024.
João Pedro Boazinha presented his work titled “Creation of a 3D Molecular Database of Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels.” His research focuses on computational modeling to develop a deeper understanding of sodium channels, which play a vital role in molecular biology and pharmacology.
Airam Roggero shared her research titled “Impact of NSAIDs on Enzymatic Alterations in the Lands’ Cycle and Their Long-Term Hepatic Effects.” Her study investigates the biochemical impacts of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), highlighting their potential effects on lipid metabolism and liver health, contributing valuable insights into drug safety and efficacy.
The III Science Congress, themed “Science in Space,” aimed to foster interdisciplinary discussions across the diverse scientific fields represented at FCUP. The event featured engaging topics such as Aerospace Medicine, Space Technologies, and Innovations, with participation from prestigious organizations including NASA, the Portuguese Space Agency, and North Space, providing an international scope to the discussions.
