BioSIM Present in Course of the PhD Program in Integrated Health (One Health) of UTAD

Sérgio F. Sousa presented a lecture in the recent course of the PhD Program in Integrated Health (One Health) of UTAD that took place at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto in November 15th.

The 1-hour lecture presented was entitled “Towards One Health: Combining Biomolecular Simulations, Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Databases” and provided an overview of the field of biomolecular simulations and of the impact of HPC resources, artificial intelligence and scientific databases in science and of the potential that arises from the combination of these tools within the One Health concept.

The PhD Program in Integrated Health (One Health) of UTAD adopts a transdisciplinary approach centered on the One Health concept, integrating human, animal, and environmental health. It aims to provide advanced knowledge and skills development in these interconnected areas while emphasizing the practical application of scientific knowledge through innovative research and technological development. The program is designed to address pressing societal challenges by engaging multiple sectors and communities. It focuses on crucial issues such as water, energy, and air quality, safe food production, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development. By bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical intervention strategies, this PhD program prepares candidates to tackle complex global health issues and contribute meaningfully to the well-being of both ecosystems and communities.
