BioSim students Clara Cerqueira, Mariana Fernandes and Rafael Vieira attended and shared their work at the Encontro Ciência 2024, on the 3th of July.
Clara Cerqueira and Mariana Fernandes presented a poster communication on: ‘Optimizing plastic degrading enzymes by employing machine learning and 3D modeling’
Rafael Vieira presented a poster communication on: ‘In-silico aptamer development approach through machine learning’.
The communications presented by the three students highlighted the work that they have been developing as part of the MSc in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (FCUP), under the supervision supervision of João Carneiro (CIIMAR), Sérgio Sousa (BioSIM), and Diogo Pratas (Univ Aveiro).
This is the largest scientific event in Portugal, bringing researchers and science representatives from the whole country to discuss current topics. This year’s theme was ‘+Science for Health and global well-being’, which focuses on applying science in improving world health holistically.
