Sérgio F. Sousa was one of the lecturers on the 1st 3D-Bioinfo-PT introductory workshop which took place on 22 and 23 of September 2022 at ITQB (Nova), Oeiras.
This hands-on workshop is part of the continued effort of the 3D-Bioinfo-PT community (from which BioSIM is part) and Biodata to promote the training on biomolecular simulation techniques by young researchers in Portugal and was aimed at researchers starting in the field of computational biology and those wishing to expand their technical skills in that direction.
This particular workshop covered the basics of linux usage, molecular visualization tools, docking, molecular dynamics and quantum chemistry calculations and counted with 30 participants, selected among over 60 applications.
Sérgio F. Sousa was responsible for the module on Quantum Chemistry, which focused on the fundamentals of the application of quantum mechanical calculations in chemistry including the determination of QM energies and optimization of geometries with ORCA.
