Sérgio F. Sousa presents keynote lecture at the 2019 International Summer School in Computational Biology

Sérgio F. Sousa presented a keynote lecture entitled “Molecular Dynamics Simulations in Modeling Biomolecular Systems” at the 2019 Summer School in Computational Biology (https://www.uc.pt/en/iii/initiatives/cbuc/CBSS5) that is being held in Coimbra, Portugal, between 2 and 12 of September 2019.

This summer school is an intensive course targeted to students from the M. Sc. to post-doctoral levels with either biological or exact sciences backgrounds who wish to acquire skills in Computational Biology. The present edition registered 110 applications from students from 36 different nationalities, for a total of only 30 vacancies.

During the 10-days of this summer school, students will have classes, seminars and hands-on-projects on a variety of subjects, including core knowledge for modeling biological systems, Molecular dynamics for lipid membranes and proteins, Protein-ligand interactions and drug discovery, Data Science in Biology, Transcriptomics to characterize cellular mechanisms, Kinetic modeling of metabolic and signaling processes and Modeling of physiological systems.

In addition to Sérgio F. Sousa, this summer school will have other 3 keynote lectures by Prof. Alfonso Valencia (Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute), Helen Byrne (University of Oxford) and Rui Dilão (Instituto Superior Técnico).
